Rental Property Description
Villa Selim - Private Luxury Seaside Villa
VILLA SELIM
We own 3 properties. If one of your week is booked by someone else, you can always stay one week at this villa, and one week at our other villa. The villas are within 50-100 meters from each other. Our villas are called: Villa Bahce, Villa Maija and Villa Selim.
Villa Selim (Turkish for "Wonderful Villa") is located in a small exclusive development on the hills near the village of Gundogan on the Bodrum Peninsula overlooking the intersection of the Aegean & Mediterranean Seas. This villa has four bedrooms, fire place, full bathroom upstairs, half bath downstairs, and mosquito nets on all windows. Villa Selim offers free of charge telephone services for local calls or receive calls from your friends and family in your home country.
Villa Selim can comfortably accommodate up to 10 adults. The villa has terraced gardens, wood-burning fire place, laundry room with new washing machine, and a fully-equipped kitchen with new dishwasher, oven, microwave, water boiler, and refrigerator. Pathways from the villa lead down to the swimming pool, overlooking the Aegean Sea.
This villa has four bedrooms, full bathroom upstairs, half bath downstairs, and is fully air-conditioned and heated. Once a week maid service for cleaning is provided at no charge. If extra maid service is required, 40 GBP per cleaning is required. For those who stay more than one week, once a week cleaning is provided at no extra charge.
Bodrum Villa for Rent at Affordable and Reasonable Rates...
This villa sees the sunrise and is cool in the hot afternoon sun. Perfect for relaxing on the terrace and enjoying the island view and sail boats. In 2011, the communal pool will be open from June 1 to October 15.
The villa is tastefully furnished and comfortably equipped. In the living room, the TV has a built-in DVD/CD player and hundreds of satellite channels from around the world.
The sun terrace offers two sun beds, BBQ, and a wonderful view of the sea and mountain behind the villa. Perfect place to barbeque and prepare for al-fresco dining on the terrace.
The outdoor dining terrace is the perfect place to relax and enjoy time with your loved ones. The huge boulder next to the terrace separates the neighboring house and provides a private natural atmosphere.
The intellectual climate of Bodrum is shaped by tourists and people living on the Bodrum peninsula from countries such as England, Ireland, France, Germany, Russia, Italy, Spain, and even the USA. The villa is within 20 minutes from the city of Bodrum, which allows for many entertainment opportunities (Turkish Blue Cruise Voyages, Greek Island Excursions, Historic sites, Nature Adventures, and excellent Night Life activities). Bodrum is well-recognized for its artistic heritage, and is therefore an open-minded community. Nightlife in Bodrum offers restaurants, bars, and clubs for all life styles.
Private Luxury Seaside Villa with Pool in Gundogan, Bodrum
Area Information:
Hiring a car is the easiest way to get around, but you can manage without one. If youre staying for a few weeks you may like to save some money and shed the car for some of the time and use the local dolmas, or mini-bus service, which operates cheaply and efficiently throughout the peninsula. Yellow taxis are good for short journeys but can add up a bit on longer ones. Many people hitch around the area and it is not uncommon for lifts to be offered by drivers who are going the same way as you.
In Ortakent (half-way between Gundogan and Bodrum) there is a large water park. It is opposite the KIPA hypermarket which is part of the Tesco chain and sells many well known Tesco products as well as local and international brands. Gumbet and Bodrum are only 20-30 minutes away for those want the busy night life and bustling resorts.
Also look out for the markets, typically the Turgutreis one on Saturdays. Yalikavak is usually on Thurdays and Gundogan on Wednesdays. There are no fixed prices so dont forget to haggle.
Outside facilities for use of all guests at Villa Selim
The Heredot complex although small and exclusive has ample outside facilities including its Infinity pool with views of the Aegean which no photograph can really do justice to. The Villa benefits from being only a short 1 minute walk from the pool and the childrens play area situated adjacent to it. There is also a childrens paddling pool for smaller toddlers.
Secluded seaside access is available to our guests, a short walk from the site, with facilities shared by a small number of selected neighboring complexes. These include sundecks, pontoons, loungers and parasols. Excellent snorkeling opportunities exist here with an abundance of sea life present. The water here is deep so the beach in Gundogan village with its gently shelving sandy beach, may be better suited to guests with very small children.
What is in the Village of Gundogan?
Covered with colourful flowers all year round, Gundogan means `the Sunrise`. Famous for its ancient rock cemeteries and rock formations, it is a small town on the Bodrum Peninsula.
Some imaginative people believe that these rock formations are, in fact, the remains of an ancient zoo built of stone. There may be truth in this., as Gundogan is located very near to the ancient Lelegian city of Madnasa. These historians of antiquity say that the Lelegians were skilled in stone work. If you look carefully at these rock formations with a little imagination thrown in then you may see the wild animals of the ancient zoo carved in stone!
It is an important town for fishing, sponge diving, olive and tangerine growing. The old and new settlers have protected the character of the place. They have not touched the houses surrounded with trees of olive, mandarins, bananas, pomegranates and oak. The scent of orange trees welcoming visitors along the seaside still remains. Gundogan has 4000 inhabitants.
Boat trips leave from here to secluded Bays along the coast. You can catch a ferry to Didim on the other side of the Bay and watch dolphins and seals swim alongside the boat. Situated among tangerine, olive and pine trees, intimate restaurants and cafes built on jetties circle the Bay offering traditional Turkish cuisine.
Gundogan is also cheaper than other parts of the peninsula. Relax and take it easy with a chilled glass of wine or the local delicacies. There are large colourful cushions provided to sit on, on the many jetties circulating the Bay where you can chill out, people watch, sip a refreshing drink and watch the waves breaking on the rocks and children playing in the crystal blue waters.
This is a great place for snorkeling where you enter the sea from the jetties. Sit at the beach bar and watch the sun go down and witness the spectacular sunsets. There is a small harbour with fishing boats, yachts, gullets and a sailing school offering dingy sailing, windsurfing ,jetskis and waterskiing.
Across the Bay is `Rabbit Island` which has an old Greek church and standing remains of a Byzantine monastic settlement dated to the 9th Century A.D.
If you wish to be active during your stay here, you will have plenty to do - archeological trips in the area, windsurfing, under water photography, diving lessons, horse riding, walking and trekking.
History, dramatic landscape and a natural un spoilt Bay and friendly people await you! As they say `Nothing less than history, sun, seaside, nature and friendly people can be found`.
Also the Gundogan fisherman sell their catch to the local sea front restaurants, so ask what is available. Simply delicious.
Nightlife - While there are some bars dotted along the harbour front, nightlife in Gundogan tends to be quite low key with most evenings spent savouring a satifying meal or sitting out with a cool beer or a Gin and Tonic in hand watching the sun set on another day.
