Using Our Site
If you are new to our site or have not used our services before then you will find the following guidelines helpful in preparing yourself for renting a villa abroad.
Holiday Accommodation
With cheaper flight operators and low cost airlines flying direct to more and more destinations abroad the days of the High Street Travel Agent are numbered. Renting a villa, apartment or house of any description abroad is now the most popular way to holiday. Package holidays will soon become a thing of the past. All our properties are added directly by the owners so you can be assured of the latest up to date availability and the very best of customer service, after all its their business.
Property Search
Our state of the art software will enable you to search for a property to suit your requirements whatever and wherever that may be. You can search by country or browse by type of property ie: Golf, Beach or City property.
We encourage each owner to add as much information as possible for their property so that you know exactly what the property offers in relation to sleeping arrangements, facilities and the surrounding area.
Making a Shortlist
We provide each property with a unique reference number so that you can quickly locate any property from our Homepgae by entering the reference number into the appropriate search box.
Individual properties can also be added to your favourites so that you can compare properties at a glance.
How to Contact the Owner
The contact details (address, telephone, fax, etc) of the every property owner or their agent appears with each property along with other details on booking the property - please read these carefully. Remember that each property is owned directly so there may be a delay in receiving an answer back from the owner for one of many reasons.Remember you are booking with them and not Rent a Villa Abroad - we are merely a free advertising tool for the owner.
How to make a Booking
Each property owner will have their own way of processing a booking. However you should expect to pay a deposit of between 10 - 50% to secure the property for your dates. This may be by the way of a cheque or credit card. The owner will normally confirm the booking and receipt of your payment by letter or by e-mail. The balance is normally due within 8 weeks of the rental commencement. Be prepared to leave a breakage deposit with the balance as this will cover the cost of any breakages and metered charges for gas/electricity/telephone if they are not included in the rental rate. You should expect to receive your deposit back with 7/14 days of your return providing all is well. Please remember your contract is with each individual owner or their agents and not Rent a Villa Abroad.com so please ensure that you check the cancellation terms with the owner at the time of booking - deposits are often non-refundable and they may have a sliding scale of charges for last minute cancellations after the balance has been paid. We recommend that you ask for any terms and conditions in writing. Please ensure you have received your confirmation of accommodation before booking any flights, transfers etc.
Arriving at the Property
Make sure that you have the correct address and directions to the property. Owners have their own way of sending these to you but generally upon receipt of the balance you should receive the full address details and clear directions on how to get to their property. Some owners will send you a key in advance, some may live on site and be there to welcome you, whilst others may have a local representative or agent who will meet you (in this case please make sure that you have the telephone number of the owner or their representative so that you can call to let them know if your arrival time is delayed).
Problems
Should you encounter any problems during your stay it is important to let either the owner or their local representative know as soon as possible so that things can be rectified. Please do not "put up with things" and then complain when you get home. Ensure things are reported at an early stage so that they can be rectified then you can concentrate on enjoying your holiday.
Lastly Enjoy your Holiday!
With many years of experience in both the Travel Industry and the Overseas Property Market I can truly say that there is nothing more enjoyable than spending two weeks in the luxury and privacy of a holiday villa abroad.
